As the Hospice Director of Nursing, Patient Care Services (DPCS) – you will:
- Overall responsibility for the supervision and oversight of all hospice patient care services and shall be responsible for all activities relevant to the patient care services furnished including the development of personnel qualifications and the assignment of personnel.
- Management of agency nursing personnel and contracted services.
- Follows up with hospice patients to assess patient satisfaction with the Agency’s services.
- Directs in-services, case conferences, and staff meetings.
- Ensures that the Agency operates in compliance with legal, regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Ensures that the policies and procedures reflect quality and safe delivery of hospice care services.
- Maintains and implements standards of care.
- Represents home health on various committees.

- Licensed to practice as a registered nurse (RN) by the Board of Registered Nursing in the state of California.
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or other health related field with three years of experience within the last five years in a hospice agency, primary care clinic or health facility.
- Prior supervisory or administrative experience in hospice.
- Knowledge and expertise in clinical decision-making for the patient population of the hospice agency to meet the needs of his or her patients, and to contribute to Quality Management review and evaluation.
- Knowledge of regulatory agency requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Must have visual and hearing acuity. Must be able to communicate clearly verbally. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. May be exposed to minor hazards/communicable diseases. Physically active walking, standing, bending, lifting, and climbing stairs. Must be able to perform fully assisted transfers, with or without transfer devices (if required for the position). Must not have any back lifting/moving restrictions. Must provide proof of automobile insurance upon hire and at each renewal and maintain a safe driving record.
