Joyce Travers was in the prime of her life, with plans to be married in November. An avid hiker and Dodger fan, she embraced life and all of its adventures. She was a mother of 2 sons, of whom she was so proud, Dustin and David, a loving sister to Jody, fiancé to Mario, and a beloved friend to many. One of her greatest passions was caring for others and she found her love of hospice after becoming a nurse later in her life. She was witty, smart, and loved people. She was especially beloved by her patients with whom she connected with easily and entirely. Dedicated and hard-working she was committed to her patients and giving them the best care at their end-of-life. She is forever loved and greatly missed by all of those she touched.
Joyce proved that it is never too late to go for your passion. She cared for her patients as people, caring for their symptoms as well as their feelings. She will be remembered for her kindness as a person and as an amazing hospice nurse.
In dedication to Joyce Travers and her legacy as a truly outstanding hospice nurse, Assisted Home Health & Hospice Foundation is proud to introduce the Joyce Travers Palliative/Hospice Care Education Grant. The monies from the grant will fund advanced educational training to an LVN/RN looking to become certified as a palliative and/or hospice LVN/RN. The grant requires all applicants be a licensed LVN/RN and have worked as an LVN/RN for at least 2 years.
