It’s Nurses week and we are celebrating! This week, we are honoring the extraordinary nurses who are a part of the Assisted family. We love and appreciate our nurses and staff for the superior care they provide to our patients on a daily basis. Here are just a few reasons why we love nurses!
Nurses are Smart
Really smart. And becoming a nurse is not an easy feat. Nurses are required to have a college or university degree and often continue their education beyond by attending seminars, workshops and courses. At Assisted, we have an entire staff development department who are dedicated to providing continued education to all our nurses and staff.
Nurses are Compassionate
Nurses show care, patience and compassion when their patients need it most. Whether it’s holding a patient’s hand to offer support when receiving a difficult diagnosis to simply listening when a patient is expressing anxiety and fear, nurses offer a shoulder to lean on during some of life’s most difficult times.
Nurses don’t mind getting their hands dirty
Let’s face it; being a nurse can be a dirty job. Nurses are the first to roll up their sleeves and handle every situation whether it is good, bad or ugly. From cleaning and dressing wounds to measuring and testing specimen samples, nurses are unfazed by what’s thrown at them because they’ve already seen it all.
Nurses are prepared for anything
When you’re a nurse, there will never be two days that are the same. Each day offers new patients, ailments and personalities. Unexpected situations can occur at the drop of a hat and nurses are skilled, ready and cool as can be when it happens.
A Nurse can do it all
From interpreting labs and working with doctors, to keeping everything running smoothly, nurses do it all. They are the eyes and ears of the physician and are always assessing their patients and situations. They translate what can be sometimes cryptic information and instructions given by doctors into friendly terms to puzzled patients and families. Nurses do it all on a daily basis and we love them for it.
