A service launched by The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services called Home Health Compare puts people on the right path to finding the best agency to fit their needs.  This tool serves patients, families and referral sources to help choose a home healthcare agency.  Home Health Compare uses a star rating system to compare agencies on the measurement of their performance. Home Health Compare includes two types of ratings:

  1. Quality of Patient Care Star Rating – based on OASIS assessments and Medicare claims data.
  2. Patient Survey Star Ratings – based on the patient’s experience of care measures.

Assisted Ranks above the Rest

Throughout the country, most agencies fall somewhere in the middle, averaging 3 – 3 ½ stars. A 1 or 2-star rating means that an agency’s average performance on the measured care practices was below other agency averages.
