Currently, one quarter of all Americans who die in the United States are Veterans, and this number is growing. As a Hospice Care provider, Assisted recognizes how important it is to provide care and support to our Veterans. Understanding the sacrifice and valor of Veterans and their military service is important in meeting their goals for care.
Assisted Hospice Care is proud of our new partnership with the We Honor Veterans Program. As a We Honor Veterans partner, Assisted Hospice Care will implement Veteran-centered education for staff and volunteers to improve the care provided to our Veterans. The Hospice-Veteran Partnership or HVP is a coalition of community partners that are seeking to honor Veterans for their service by providing the best possible end of life care for them and their families.
Assisted’s Hospice Care Services for Veterans Aim to:
Not all hospice care providers are aware of the military service provided by the Veterans that they care for. Donald Schumacher, National Palliative Care President and CEO states, “Through the We Honor Veterans Program, we are taking a giant step forward in helping Hospice and Palliative care providers understand and serve the Veterans at the end of life, and work more effectively with the VA medical facilities, and their communities.”
The importance of this program cannot be understated and Assisted Hospice Care is appreciative to be a part of such a significant program and will honor our Veterans with the dignity and respect they deserve.
